Prepare for your Web Show
The key to a good video shoot is to have the right equipment. First off, check your camera, lighting, and audio equipment the night before the shoot to ensure everything is working properly. Also, make a checklist of all the equipment you will need for the shoot. Check off items you have and get those you don’t have. This ensures you having everything you need when it is time to shoot. Better to be safe than sorry.
One item you might actually find very helpful is giving your actors a lavalier microphone. These are very small, wireless microphones attached inside clothing. The actor(s) will forget it’s there, allowing them to feel more relaxed, and the sound quality for your show will increase dramatically.
It’s also a good idea to back the camera away from the actors as far as your zoom lens will allow. This will also help the actors feel more comfortable because they have more room and are less nervous as when a camera is right in front of their face. People act more naturally when there aren’t any cameras around. So help them feel as if there isn’t one in the room. It will also give your shot a shallow depth of field.
